This is the off-shift gear: what's in your personal bag when you roll into fire camp for 14 days. It is not line gear. Your agency issues or sets the rules for Nomex, fire shelters, packs, and boots, so follow your agency and crew. Picks favor gear that's comfortable, sets up fast, and survives dust, smoke, and rain. Alaska fire camps add mosquitoes, cold nights, and midnight sun when you're sleeping off a night shift.
Prices change. We checked every price and Alaska shipping quote on the product page on Oct 19, 2026 (Palmer, AK 99645 cart quotes where the store allowed it). Sales end and sizes sell out, so check the price before you buy.

About fire boots
Fire boots aren't in this kit because your agency sets the spec. The usual standard (NWCG) is all-leather, lace-up, at least 8 inches tall, with melt-resistant lug soles and no steel toe. Check your agency's current requirement before you buy.
Not brand-picked, but pack them: eye mask and foam earplugs (for day sleep on night shift), a quick-dry towel, shower kit, baby wipes, foot powder, lip balm with SPF, ibuprofen, a spare phone cable, and a power bank. Garage Grown Gear's power banks showed no Alaska shipping option (lithium batteries), so buy one in Alaska.
